A lot of things have happened in the past few months…and i have decided to cram it all into one post, as you can see, first off, i have changed my online alias to avbluestar14 from avinabra….anyway, enough about me, lets get to the good stuff.
First, let’s talk about Apple. This company is recognized as sort of a “pro machine” company. When you see someone with a Macbook Pro, or any other product from Apple, like the iPhone, they look like a professional. I mean, really, most hospitals, big companies, etc. use Macs. Mostly small businesses use PC’s. But this is starting to change. You always see people around with an iPod, but never a Zune.(Sorry Microsoft, but you lost in this department.) But its a flip-flop for computers. Apple has been striving to make prices more and more affordable for average Americans. For example, the iPad was expected to be $999, but it turned out being only $599. Price cuts are sure too come to its computer and potable product lines. I still think that Apple is really living on its iPods, because, no dought about it, iPods are the most popular music player in the WORLD. Next, lets go to its ex- best-ally, Google.
Google and Apple have been clashing on many different fronts. Google has came out with its new Nexus One phone to challenge the iPhone. It is coming out with Chrome OS, a lightweight version of Linux meant mainly for web browsing. It is also rumored to be making a tablet to compete with the iPad. In fact, Apple has been having talks with Microsoft on replacing Google with Bing as the default search on the iPhone. But, of course, more people are getting used to using Google as an every-day term. On February 7, 2010, it aired its first t.v. commercial, Parisian Love, during the SuperBowl. It is coming out with many new products to enhance the Google ecosystem like Google Wave(reported about on previous blog) and Google buzz(report coming soon).
Microsoft had came out with Windows 7, its newest OS in early September. I don’t see the point in buying it as it is just an OS built on Vista with cocky new features and a slightly new look. In fact, windows 7 isn’t even the 7th version of windows. Its the 6th, but they needed a good catchphrase to advertise, I guess. I’d wait for the next version though, I have heard some talks of a new User Interface to replace Aero. If you still have xp, and don’t want to waste money on 7, but you want the look, that can easily be done as shown in my youtube video(directions in description at actual youtube page):
Bing is improving, suffering from little knowledge among people. But I think something to look forward to is http://www.microsoft.com/surface/ Its like a multitouch coffe table, really interseting to interact with. But, like most technology, a little too fancy for everyday life, but still cool!
So, that just a summary of what happened in these past few months. Expect more details on future events!
